Smarty Alert and Giveaway: ‘Nordstrom to You’ hits the QC

For Smarty Pants fans of Postmates and other order-from-your-couch delivery services, have I got some news for you.

A month after Amazon Prime Now launched in Charlotte, Nordstrom SouthPark is hitting the same-day delivery trend right on time with a merchandise delivery service, called “Nordstrom to You,” which is about as amazing as the name is obvious. From July 13-16, Nordstrom SouthPark will launch the “To You” pilot program for Charlotte customers timed with the start of the yearly Anniversary sale, which runs until August 6.

I’ll get into exactly how “Nordstrom to You” works down below, but let’s talk quickly about what this means first. Imagine it:

Scenario A: You have literally tried on your whole closet; nothing fits, you have an important [insert dreaded social event where you will be surrounded by negative zeros with high fashion sense and still you own 87 cardigans from college]. Log-on to Nordstrom.com; order a few items that you can try on in the privacy of your own judgement-free closet; and WHAM-O, those items are delivered to you before 4PM eastern standard time. Done.

Scenario B: You have toddlers. Enough said. Nordstrom delivery service is your friend, friend.

Scenario C: You are a high-powered business person, on the go with no time for funny business. Nordstrom delivery service is another helpful tool in your toolbox.

Scenario D: Hey, who am I to scenario plan your clothing merchandise delivery needs? Just try it. Is that Nike? No?

The brilliance behind this delivery service wasn’t Nordstrom Corporate. It was the brainchild of Shanna Naughton, Store Manager of Nordstrom, SouthPark Mall. As background, each Store Manager is empowered to brainstorm ideas that drive business and Shanna is betting on the popularity of other delivery services to assure the success of her own.

It doesn’t hurt that “To You” launches during the first few days of the Anniversary Sale taking place July 13-August 6. Nordstrom Card holders get Early Access from July 13-July 20; the sale is available to the public from July 21-August 6.

We will drive your Buy Online Pick Up in Store Orders (BOPUS) to your house or location within a 10 mile radius from the store (4400 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28211). Curbside pick up is also an option for customers who place BOPUS orders. Customers park by the curbside sign located in the east parking lot between Nordstrom and Belk on level 1 and Nordstrom will run orders out to the car so customers don’t have to park, remove kids from the car, or even get out of your car.

For those curious about how BOPUS works, a customer simply goes to Nordstrom.com and filter by the store location with the zip 28211. If the item a customer is looking for is available, it will prompt for an option to Buy Online and Pick Up in Store – BOPUS. The order will take (usually) an hour for it to be ready for pick up. The customer will receive an email and a text message when the order is ready for pick up.
