I adore the traditional New Year’s Eve song, “Days of Auld Lang Syne”. It makes me smile with peace for the year ahead. It makes me crave achieving my New Year’s resolutions and mastering my goals.
I love the hope of a resolution, but they aren’t for everyone.
Whether you make them,
break them,
or hate them,
resolutions represent a fresh start.
This year, like every year, I will make a resolution. I am sure it will be broken, but I’m hopeful.
When the clock strikes midnight and everyone celebrates, I often turn inward and cheer the start of a fresh year. While couples kiss around me, I close my eyes for a moment and almost breathe in the smell of new beginnings. I quietly make a wish. My wish is that all of my days in the coming year are filled with the freshness I feel at that moment. January 1st is so exciting, like you could do just about anything. Like you could be someone else just by willing it.
When you think of the New Year, I hope you are anticipating greatness. Set a resolution. Even if it seems impossible, aim high. Very high. So what if you fail? You tried.
