Happy Easter! This is a long holiday weekend for many of us and some of you may even have out of town guests. If you are like me you will be looking for things to do to keep everyone happy, entertained and busy. I have found some activities that everyone can enjoy from Easter Egg Hunts to the Globetrotters.
Here are the the Egg Hunts:
Freedom Park Egg Hunt
Freedom Park, 1900 East Blvd., Charlotte
March 21st, 1:00 pm-3:00pm with the hunt starting at app. 2:45pm.
Sponsored by the Art Institute of Charlotte, this Egg Hunt at Charlotte’s scenic Freedom Park features snacks, drinks, games and activities as well as pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Eggstravaganza 2008
March 22, 10:00am-2:00pm
Colonel Francis Beatty Park, 4330 Weddington Rd., Matthews
Radio station 107.9’s the Matt and Ramona show sponsors this annual event at Colonel Francis Beatty Park in Matthews. The event is free and features over 100,000 pieces of candy for little ones to find along with rides and games. Shuttle service is provided from the Siskey YMCA and the Evangel Christian Center. Hunts take place at 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Latta Plantation Easter Egg Hunt
March 22, 11:00am-2:00pm
Latta Plantation, 5225 Sample Road, Huntersville
Hunt for Easter Eggs on the beautiful grounds of Historic Latta Plantation. Thousands of toy- and candy-filled eggs will be hidden and there will be grand prize eggs for each age group.
Hunt Times:
11:00am (1-3 year olds)- one parent allowed in the hunt area per child
12:30pm (4-6 year olds) – no parents in hunt area
2:00pm (7-10 year olds)- no parents in hunt area
Have children in more than one age group? Make a family day of it- visit the historic plantation home and grounds, and bring a picnic to enjoy in the park while you wait for the next hunt time! Families should arrive at least 15 minutes before their children’s scheduled hunt time, and all children should bring their own baskets.
The cost is $5.00 per child (2 free adults per child, additional friends and family pay regular site admission). REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Space is limited, so RSVP early to 704-875-2312 or rhooey@lattaplantation.org
Eggscellent Easter Event

Ballantyne Village, Johnson Road and Ballantyne Commons Road
Play games for free candy and bring your camera and take a picture with the Easter Bunny. They’ll be face painting, caricatures, a fire truck and ambulance, numerous inflatables, live animals and more! Sponsored by Lite 102.9.

As darkness falls, many of our local animals become active. We’ll use our eyes and ears to find some of our nocturnal wildlife as we take a one mile hike in the woods to find the animal of the night. All ages.
Children’s Day on the Farm
Historic Brattonsville, 1444 Brattonsville Road, McConnells, SC
March 22, 10:00am-4:00pm
This annual family event focuses on farm life in the 18th and 19th centuries and is a fun historic learning opportunity that offers a wide variety of hands-on activities including children’s crafts, kid’s military drills, toys and games, candle making and story telling. Visit the museum’s heritage breed animals and a 4-H petting zoo. Pony rides, tractor drawn wagon rides, and family friendly foods will also be available. Under 4 is free, $5 Age 4-17, Seniors are $8 and Adults are $10.
