I recently chatted with Flywheel’s new late-night instructors, Kari Tuttrup and Kelsey O’Neill. They are both in the 8:30 PM Fly 45 time slot – Kari on Mondays and Kelsey on Wednesdays. This is a great new time slot for the busy mama – put the kids to bed and sneak out for a quick 45-minute workout! More deets here!
Kari Tuttrup is a new instructor with at Flywheel Sports Charlotte – she’s also a Charlotte area physical therapist. More on Kari here in her bio!
Q: Why do you love flying to end your day?
A: I love ending a usually hectic Monday rocking out to my favorite music and getting a good sweat. It’s a great start to the week and then I sleep like a baby!
Q: How do you fuel pre/post class for an 8:30PM ride?
A: Pre class, I love a whole grain English muffin with turkey and avocado (or almond butter if I’m in a rush). Then, usually, a smoothie post ride – spinach almond butter almond milk banana and another fruit! My biggest meal on Mondays is usually lunch!
Q: What music inspires your ride at 8:30PM?
A: A combo of anything fun that I want to jam out to and some newer rock/alternative that makes me finish Monday with a bang!
Q: Give us one to two holiday fit tips to keep us never coasting through this holiday season.
A: Everything in moderation! You can have pie and cookies and all of that, just let it be smaller portions to things like turkey or veggies! And definitely have that glass of wine or two – it is a time of celebration!
Q: What are a few of your favorite ways to enjoy the holiday season when you’re not in studio at Flywheel Sports Charlotte?
A: I enjoy cutting down our own Christmas tree with my brother-in-law and sister every year. And my sister and I making my moms famous Christmas cookies from scratch is something I always look forward too!
Kelsey O’Neill has the Wednesday 8:30 Fly45 timeslot.
Q: Why do you love flying to end your day?
A: I love flying at 8:30pm, because it ends my day on a high! I feel accomplished and love the feeling of having a clear mind right before bed!
Q: How do you fuel pre/post class for an 8:30PM ride?
A: I fuel by having a larger lunch and steady snacking pre class. Post class, I like to end my night with a tall glass of water, a couple of scrambled eggs/egg whites, and whole wheat toast (with butter of course!). It’s an easy dinner that is delicious, not too heavy, and fills me up!
Q: What music inspires your ride at 8:30PM?
A: Musically I need a lot of hype – heavy music like Imagine Dragons or a good rap song. The heavier music just helps to flush out some lingering stress from a long day. Sometimes I love a good 90s throwback – it puts me in a feel good mood!
Q: Give us two holiday fit tips to keep us never coasting through this holiday season.
A: I plan to stay fit by playing in the snowy mountains – running around in a snow suit, boots, hat, and mittens is harder than you might think! 😉
Q: What are a few of your favorite ways to enjoy the holiday season when you’re not in studio at Flywheel Sports Charlotte?
A: Traditions I’m looking forward to are, new Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve and watching my favorite Christmas movie, “Elf.”
