The short answer to this question is A LOT! Last week Carowinds announced the 2016 additions and you’re going to love all of them!
The BIG announcement is the new Carolina Harbor waterpark. Boomerang Bay will be re-themed and transformed into Carolina Harbor. It will be the largest waterpark expansion in Carowinds history and make Carowinds home to the largest waterpark in the Carolinas. In addition to the new coastal Carolina theme, they will be adding:
-Blackbeard’s Revenge
-New Waterpark Entrance – Come and go as you please with a new convenient entrance with direct access.
-Surf Club Harbor Wave Pool – A state-of-the-art 27,000 square-foot wave pool that features 12 water geysers.
-Blackbeard’s Revenge – A towering six story tall water slide complex featuring three attractions and six exhilarating slides.
-Seaside Splashworks – Part of our new two-acre family area, this water structure features over 80 elements including a 423-gallon tipping bucket.
-Kiddy Hawk Cove and Myrtle Turtle Beach – These two new family-fun zones are fully equipped with features for both parents and children.
-New and Renovated Restaurants – In addition to enhancing several restaurants, Harbor House and Schooners will be new premiere dining destinations.
-Additional Cabanas – You’ll find more than shade in our 40 new luxurious cabanas.
-More Lounging Chairs – An additional 1,100 lounging chairs will be available for guests to relax and enjoy the sun.
-Sand Volleyball Courts – Five professional quality sand volleyball courts will be added for both casual and competitive play.
-New and Upgraded Facilities – In addition to upgrading family changing areas, a new bathhouse will be added.
Another big announcement for 2016 is Starbucks! Full service to accommodate nearly 100 indoors with a 3,000 square-foot plus patio. It will be located to the right near the main park entrance.
And last but not least, the Cirque Imagine Show is coming in 2016. This is an amazing circus style show with acrobatic performances and bike stunts, here’s a preview:
Upcoming Events for 2015:
Run and Ride: September 12-13
Turn the thrill of the ride into the thrill of the run! Carowinds is excited to present year two of the Run & Ride series, which will have your thighs and lungs screaming during one of the three running events through the park and then you can scream your head off as you take to some of the best coasters in the country. The half-marathon includes free park entry for the runner Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday for the event weekend. The 10K and 5K includes a one-day pass for the event weekend. The Great Pumpkin Fest:
Starting September 19th, The Great Pumpkin Fest Fall Festival will be held every Saturday and Sunday through Halloween, located inside Carowinds’ Planet Snoopy. The Great Pumpkin Fest celebrates all the fun of the fall season with costumes, games, hands on activities and Snoopy and his pals giving hugs, high fives, and treats. Great Pumpkin Fest activities are included with the price of daytime admission to Carowinds. The park is open from 10a-5:30p on October Saturdays and Sundays with The Great Pumpkin Fest going from 11a-5p.

From mazes with terrifying creatures around every corner to thrill rides that’ll haunt your dreams, it’s everything you fear and can’t wait to experience.
