This is a GOODIE, Smarty Charlotte! Drop what you’re doing right this minute and put your name in this giveaway hat!
When I first started my little ‘ole blog called Charlotte Smarty Pants in 2007, my cousin Kyle was just finishing art school. He has always had such a gift and I was BEGGING him to paint my kids (his cousins:-)! I also told him that I would share his name all over this city if he could a) do a good job and b) get it done in a timely manner. I knew he would get the a-part right, the b-part was a different story.
Fast forward eight years and Kyle got busy with lots of other stuff. BUT, he sent his DARLING friend from art school, Rachel Wade, my way this summer! She and her hubby relocated to Charlotte and Rachel is looking to settle her artistic roots here in the QC. So now I’m here to tell you about the AMAZING.RACHEL.WADE.
I met Rachel for coffee and she got to know me, my style and my family. Rachel is one of those people who once you meet her, you want to spend more and more time with her. She has such a beautiful soul and I knew she was going to do the most incredible portrait of my boys. Rachel did just that. One thing that stands out to me is the uniquely different expressions of my identical twins. To me, they look entirely different, their personalities are night and day. Rachel captured their personalities perfectly in this painting. The only problem I see now is that my boys’ future wives are going to get in a wicked fight over who gets this painting! I couldn’t be more thrilled with the end result!
I’m sharing the progress here, it is absolutely fascinating to me:
