Before you start thinking that this concept comes from some sort of parenting guru, let me reassure you that Fruit-Full Kids was born out of a parenting dilemma, not parenting expertise! One day as a mother of four I was struggling to encourage my kids to be nicer to one another. In desperation I created the Kindness Award. At dinnertime I would single out one child for the kind things he or she had done, and reward them with positive reinforcement and dinner on a special plate. When I saw how well this concept worked, I added the Self-Control award and things just grew from there.
