Brrrrr…. Wow, is it cold outside! When the weather in Charlotte is beautiful 10 months a year, we find it fairly easy to find things to do with our family. But when it is a bitter 32 degrees (or most recently, 8 degrees) it can be hard to pull yourself off of the couch. We retreat inside to family movie nights or board games until we are about ready to pull our hair out. Luckily, we have an upcoming event for all you Smarties out there that is sure to be an event the kids will love.. even with it being so cold outside.
Our hometown Charlotte Checkers are having an amazing season and the best game of the year is coming up next week! Each year, the Charlotte Checkers host an annual “Race Night”. This is a SELL-OUT night for them each year and we can’t wait to tell you about it. For all you race fans out there, not only will your family get to watch an exciting Charlotte Checkers game.. but you will also have the chance to meet local NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers. Ryan Newman, Joey Logano, Clint Bowyer and Regan Smith will headline the Checker’s annual Race Night on Friday, January 24th at 7 p.m. when the team hosts the Oklahoma City Barons.
The team will wear special “Race Night” themed jerseys that will be auctioned off live after the game. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Isabella Santos Foundation and the Hospitality House of Charlotte, two amazing local charities. Members from both charities will be on hand to tell you a little about themselves so if you are looking to get involved locally, be sure to stop by their booths.
Families are welcome to arrive at Time Warner Cable arena at 6 p.m. for the 45-minute autograph session on the concourse. The first 2,500 fans through the door will receive a Checkers cowbell and the first 5,000 fans will receive a Bojangles’ mystery card worth $1 to $100. Bonus.
Since this is traditionally a SOLD OUT event, we encourage you to buy your tickets online prior to the event. Best part is that the Charlotte Checkers have pulled aside some of the best seats in the house just for us at a cost of only $15 a seat.
