Carowinds’ Great Pumpkin Fest

I have very fond memories of Carowinds from when I was a teenager riding roller coasters such as the Carolina Cyclone, Carolina Goldrusher and Thunder Road – all of which are still a thrill more than 20 years later.

However, I was not as familiar with some of the awesome experiences for the younger set. This past weekend, we took our kids ages 7 and 4 to Carowinds for the Great Pumpkin Fest.

The Great Pumpkin Fest takes place in the part of the park know as “Planet Snoopy“. During the daytime, they transform Planet Snoopy into a street party of Halloween fun for kids and their families.

The Great Pumpkin Fest has Halloween-themed shows, attractions and interactive activities throughout the day.  If you have been to Carowinds before, then you know Planet Snoopy has 14 rides that are perfect for your younger kids.  In addition to the rides, the Great Pumpkin Fest offers many Halloween-themed activities such as:

– Hay Bale Maze
– Costume Parade
– Foam Zone
– Mumpkin Patch (kids choose their own mumpkin (mini-pumpkin) to decorate and take home as a spooktacular keepsake)
– Fraidy Cat Puppet Show
– Kiddie-Oke!
– Trick-or-Treating
– PEANUTS Dance Party
– Peter the Talking Pumpkin

We spent nearly 5 hours inside Planet Snoopy at the Great Pumpkin Fest.   Our kids had a blast and are begging to go back next weekend!   The Great Pumpkin Fest is on Saturdays and Sundays in October and it’s free with park admission.  Team Bowman gives it a Smarty thumbs-up!
