My daughter has been begging for a new pet. This has been going on for the past two years. She’s been wearing us out and it’s making me crazy.
First, she wanted a hamster then a guinea pig then a bunny (the bunny talk went on for 6 months) and now it’s a turtle. The turtle talk has been non-freakin’-stop. I thought she’d forget or get over it or move on if we simply ignored her. Well, she was very serious about the turtle and wrote this list.
“I want a turtle because…”
1) It will be cute.
2) It won’t make a mess around the house.
3) A bunny is sad because it stays in a cage.
4) A turtle is very friendly. (really?)
5) It will be very fun when I put glitter on its back when it is my birthday. (turtle rave at my house – everyone invited)
After seeing this heartbreaking and funny list, we folded and my husband went to the pet store to get a turtle. News alert: You cannot legally purchase a pet turtle in the state of NC because of salmonella risk. Ewwwww… So, he got a 15 gallon fish tank with 8 different types of fish instead. Done.

OMG we JUST went through the turtle saga in our house too – I wanted to kiss the pet store owner when he said we couldn’t get one!!! 🙂
This is so funny and cute!! 🙂 Your daughter should write her NC senator to explain to them why it should be legal to own a turtle as a pet. Obviously, they are unaware of all the benefits 😉
