All right girlfriends – I’ve got a smarty product I must share! Anyone who knows me, knows I am ultra religious about getting my piggy’s done on a regular basis. But for whatever reason, manicures always seem to fail me … miserably! I mean, my hands look great for all of 5 minutes (while I’m still sitting in the salon waiting for them to dry), but never fail, I always seem to knick them the minute I’ve walked out the door. Or, if I’m lucky enough to get past the drying stage unscathed, the everyday wear and tear on my hands renders the lovely manicure useless in a matter of days. Then it just feels like a waste of money. So, I’ve resorted to pedi’s only and try and keep my digits in check on my own.
Enter Bath and Body Work’s “Just a Minute 60-Second Manicure Scrub” in the True Blue Spa collection. This stuff is great! It’s a sugar-based exfoliating treatment with a light orange-citrus fragrance. You rub a dollop all over your hands … heck, I take it on up the arms too … scrub for about a minute and then rinse. While you’re rubbing, give your palms a quick massage for an added bonus. The result is the softest, smoothest feeling hands. Follow with a good moisturizer and you’re good to go!
And … if you’re looking to take it up a notch, I also ‘heart’ Nailtiques – formula 2. This stuff is awesome … It’s a clear, light polish that helps prevent nails from peeling, chipping or splitting. I don’t know how it works, but it makes my nails look amazing. It’s not cheap, but well worth the price, especially when you think about how much you spend on a manicure that lasts, what, 3 days max? I am a fan of the pro mani/pedi. However, I do not like polish on my fingernails, not even clear. I think the polish weakens your nails in the long run. My cuticles and nails look nicely groomed even w/o polish! Seems like there are a lot of mani/pedi specials going on right now at various salons. I was just at Creative Nails at Park Towne Village last weekend and there mani/pedi is $30.
