Smarty Scoop on Weekend Activities: 10/17-10/19

What a great Fall week it has been. There are several things going on this weekend that you should check out. One very important thing that the Smarty Pants team would like to highlight is the 2nd Annual LungStrong 15k/5k this Saturday. We have formed Team Jen Bunich in memory of our dear friend. We are running/walking to raise awareness and funds to fight lung cancer. Jen B. didn’t have the chance to fight and it is up to us, her friends to get out there to help find a cure to keep this from happening to other women and men in their prime.

We would like to invite you all to join us this Saturday at RaceWorld USA in Lake Norman as we participate in LungStrong. The Run/Walk event is open to all participants who seek a challenge, runner-friendly course or just a fun and healthy way to support Lung Cancer awareness. The 5k is baby jogger friendly. The event features Live Music, a Wall of Honor, Massages, Prizes, Inflatables for the kids and much, much more. Go to LungStrong to sign up and Join Team Jen Bunich.

“When Elmo Grows Up”

October 16-19, Performances at 10:30am,7:00pm, 2:00pm and 5:30pm
A Sesame Street Live musical show-and-tell about Elmo and his friends as they think about growing up. Featuring classic sing-a-longs kids are sure to enjoy.

Boo at the Zoo
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, 500 Wildlife Parkway, Columbia, S.C.
October 17-19 and October 24-30, 6:00pm-9:00pm
Put on your cutest costume and head over to the zoo for the annual Halloween spook-tacular. Kids can ride on the haunted carousel, watch Haunted Mine Ride in 3-D and explore the Zoo at night!
Cost is $6-$8.

Parents Night Out Pajama Party!
My Gym South Park, 5110 Park Road, Suite 2D.
October 17, 6:00pm-9:00pm
While parents enjoy dinner, a movie, your children will be having a blast playing games, flying on the zip line, doing gymnastics and having fun!
Dress the kids in their pj’s, drop them off and we’ll wear them out for you. We even feed them. You can’t go wrong. Members $30 1st child, $15 each additional,
NonMembers $35 1st child, $20 each additional, Pizza and juice is provided.

Fall Fossil Festival
Carmel Library, 6624 Walsh Blvd.
October 18, 10:00am
A prehistoric adventure and mine your own fossils from fossil piles. Grades K-6.
Cost is free.
