It is the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend. For many of us moms this means the end of preschool for this school year. Next week will be the official start of summer for our little ones. Is it just me or did this year fly by? This also means our neighborhood pools are opening and many will be traveling. There are some activities around town, many are ongoing. Check out
Discovery Place and The Charlotte Museum of History for some of their great ongoing events.May 22-24, 11:00am-12:00pm

Uptown Charlotte
For more than 25 years, the 600 Festival Association has been commemorating the May races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway with spectacular family-oriented events that personify the tremendous growth of motor sports. Celebrating its 14th year, Food Lion Speed Street transforms the streets of Uptown Charlotte into a showcase of motor sports with non-stop entertainment on three stages, appearances by top Sprint Cup Drivers, dynamic exhibits for all ages and an amazing assembly of NASCAR show cars and simulators.
Kids’ Zone: The festival has had kid-oriented activities in the past, but this year’s event will feature a large area catering to children in and around Discovery Place on Tryon Street.

Enjoy your weekend and over this Memorial Day holiday let’s remember to take some time to think of the soldier moms and dads who are serving overseas and can’t be with their families. As always, if you know of a Smarty Event you would like to share, please let us know or post in the comments.

Does anyone know if there are any Memorial Day Parades this weekend?
I have done some more digging and have not been able to find any area parades. There are some remembrences and wreath laying ceremonies but no parades. If anyone knows of one please let us know.
