Cool Tool for Moms: “Itzbeen” Timer

I recently found this great new mom gadget (and it’s not just for new moms, read on). It’s one of those “duhhh-why-didn’t-I-think-of-that-I-and-I-could-be-a-millionaire-too” items. Well the latest item I saw that I definitely want to have next time I have a baby is called the Itzbeen Baby Care Timer. In essence, it is just a timer that counts up (not back). So you change your baby’s diaper and you push the “change” button and then 58 minutes later (for example) you can see that it has been 58 minutes since you last changed your baby. There is a button for feeding and one for sleeping (you could push when they go to sleep or when they wake up – or both). There is even a fourth button for whatever else you want to measure. Such as when you last gave medicine or (for a brand-new mom) the last time YOU slept or maybe when you last cried, such as “It’s been six and a half hours since I last cried, yay!!” (Yes, I too was pretty hormonal those first 2 weeks after I had Claire… sleep-deprived=hormonal, right?). Lastly, it has a slide knob so you can tell which side you most recently breastfed on.
This product was made for moms of new babies but I can see how it would be great for even toddlers. You can use the last button for timing “time-outs”, you can you the sleep button for seeing how long they napped and you can use the changed button to represent the last time they went “pee-pee on the potty” so you’ll know when to start prompting them to go again.
