Charlotte Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty is finally here! After being postponed twice due to the pandemic, this enchanting production by choreographer Matthew Hart will make its long awaited world premiere next month. The show will run from April 29 – May 8 at Knight Theater in uptown Charlotte.
With striking sets and lavish costumes by designer Peter Docherty, this version of Sleeping Beauty has been “tailored” with an on-stage Narrator to guide audiences through the twists and turns that beset Princess Aurora and her court.
While staying true to the beloved choreography of Marius Petipa, and set to Tchaikovsky’s glorious score, this performance has been reduced from the original 3+ hour length with a run time closer to 2 hours, including intermission. Complete with glittering tutus, tiaras and captivating spells, this family-friendly production is a must-see for first-time ballet-goers and long-time lovers of the art form alike! It is sure to leave audiences enchanted!
