Smarties, I have had a Seagrove Girls Weekend on my mind for two years, I kid you not – ask Smarty Jenni! Check out the Celebration of Seagrove Potters Studio Tour coming November 20-22! Just a 1/1/2 hour drive from Charlotte, you can do Seagrove as a day trip or a girls trip, it’s a perfect getaway to do some fun holiday shopping!
North Carolina is known for its rich history of pottery dating back to the 1700s. Seagrove actually refers to a region of artisans that has made the area one of the nation’s largest communities of potters. Seagrove’s signature event, the annual Seagrove Pottery Festival, is typically held the weekend before Thanksgiving for the last 35 years. This year will be slightly different, and will include the Seagrove Potters Studio Tour featuring authentic Seagrove pottery from over 30 ceramic artists that live and work within the Seagrove area. This will be the largest gallery crawl in the state!
Seagrove pottery includes functional tableware, home decor, art pottery, Japanese sculpture, and more at a range of price points, forms and colors. The tours start at Luck’s Cannery where you’ll receive a printed pottery map of participants along Pottery Highway. Begin your tour at Luck’s Cannery as masked volunteers welcome you to Seagrove and share a printed pottery map of participants along Pottery Highway (Hwy 705). Find participating potters here.
