CSA Spring Calendar is out and early bird registration discount ends today!
CSA has many locations from Lake Norman to south Charlotte. First day of Spring semester is January 24 and the semester ends on June 8th. Some classes include two sessions that last roughly six weeks. Classes provided include private music lessions, Group music instruction, early childhood arts, visual arts classes and pottery classes. Cost of classes depends on length and type of program.
A couple of classes that caught my eye:
Music readiness for children (ages 3 to 5) – This is a preschool music experience to encourage and introduce children to music and movement. Classes include singing, pitch matching, rhythm development, movement, music notation and work with rhythym instruments, as well as hands on exploration of orchestra instruments and piano.
Pre-school arts lab – The schools renowned Preschool Arts Lab is now open to the public. Children attending these one-hour classes enjoy hearing a different children’s book each moth, follwed by hands-on art activities that bring the book alive. Painting, collage, printmaking, weaving and woodworking stimulate creative thinking and self-expression.
Arts exploration for kids (ages 3 to 6) – In this creative course for young children, students will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and mixed media. Students will learn how to combine basic elements such as shape, color, line, and pattern to create interesting, effective compositons.
Kids pottery class (ages 5 to 9) This six-week class will introduce students to the wonderful potential of clay. Participants will create whimsicale, fun brightly-colored pieces of art. Each class session will introduce a new technique of creating and finishing objects in clay. Class tuition includes all materials and firing.
There are classes for older children as well so please check out http://www.csarts.org/for more information and to register online.
Don’t forget to register for the “Big Top” giveaway. Our friends at Discovery Place want to give one Smarty family the chance to see Circus! Click here for your chance to win a family 4-pack to this exhibit. This giveaway ends Wednesday, January 14th, at 11pm.

Excited about these activites at first glance but come to find out not for full-time working parents…nothing after 5pm. Regardless, thanks for the information.
I agree. I found a friend who wants her daughter to do it too, so we are going share carpool. She will take them and I will leave work a little early on Thursdays to pick up at 5:00.
These classes look great. I have a 2-year-old who is very interested in music. But most of the classes listed here are for ages 3 and up. Any suggestions for fun music weekend activities for 2Ter’s?
I know the Morrison (Ballantyne) Y opened a new arts pavillion & is offering art/ceramics classes for kids. I think the next registration is Feb 1
