Yes, my children can swim and yes, I’m doing swim lessons.
If you saw my girls at the pool last summer, you might wonder why in the world they going to Charlotte Swim Academy now. My girls, ages six and eight, can both swim well. For a year or two both of them have been swimming all over the pool and jumping off the diving board. They are good enough that I don’t have to get any every time anymore. (Yay! Yes, this can happen one day.)
However, I noticed last summer that something was missing. When they were racing friends across the pool, they made it across just fine, but there was a lot of splashing and utterly no technique. (Sometimes I saw the lifeguards watching them closely wondering if they were OK, and I would look back and say they are fine, they are just swimming. I guess that kind of told me something. Hmmm.) So after that day I vowed to work with them to improve their swimming strokes and their breathing. I thought this would be a great way to avoid swim lessons again, but was I wrong! When you are a kid at the pool with a ton of other children playing around, the last thing you want to do is practice with your mom!! I mean, really? So my idea was a big bust, and I promised myself I’d get my girls in lessons before summer 2015. So here we are.
I decided to take my girls to Charlotte Swim Academy so this summer they could:
1. Always be comfortable in the water.
2. Learn proper stroke and kicking instruction.
3. Learn how to breathe correctly.
4. Be confident swimmers
5. Have even more fun at the pool this summer.
What more could a mom want?
We’ve gone to Charlotte Swim Academy for two weeks now and I have to say I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door. Charlotte Swim Academy is run like a well-oiled machine. It is highly organized, which I love. We walked in, were directed to the clean, private changing rooms that also have their own bathroom and showers. This is great and makes leaving to go home even better… all clean, all showered…done!
Once my girls were ready in their swimsuits, we went out to the pool area where we were given our instructors name. We were early so we got to watch a little bit, but quickly it was our turn. Both of my girls’ instructors came over and introduced themselves. They were both super sweet – before I knew it, they were off to start. I could tell instantly that my children felt comfortable and were ready to learn. Charlotte Swim Academy’s teaching technique is amazing, and I love the private class aspect. Each child is met on his or her level and gets personalized instruction.
I would recommend CSA to any parent for any age child. It’s not just for your younger kids learning how to swim, but also to be considered for your elementary age kids who could benefit from proper instruction and who want to be get more confidence in the water. I am thrilled we are taking lessons there! I can’t wait to see how the rest of the lessons go!
