Kid-to-Kid is Opening a New Location in Myers Park!
As a mom, I’m on a constant quest to “sell it” or “buy it” at a great price! I L-O-V-E eBay for selling items we no longer use and for nabbing great buys on toys and kiddie clothes. What I don’t love about eBay is the shipping and waiting for my items. Plus, I’ve listed a ton of things that should have sold for more or, didn’t sell at all.
What’s a mom to do? Pile up your unused items and march over to the new location for Kid-to-Kid in Myers Park!!! Kid-to-Kid takes an entire new approach to consignment. This precious store sells gently used kids clothing, toys, strollers, and furniture. The hook, they give you the money upfront. HELLO, I said UPFRONT! No waiting, no checking on unsold items, no shipping!! Guaranteed cash in your pocket. Kid-to-Kid will even offer you a higher percentage of the sale if you take store credit (which never expires). Think designer kid shoes, winter jackets so cute they belong in a boutique, and toys that are affordable.
So clean out and cash in! This “common sense kind of store” is what every Smarty mom needs near her. Kids sizes and taste grow faster than I currently am while carrying these twins. Check ‘em out ladies, you will thank me later!
Currently the Park Road location is open for selling (i.e. dropping off your items). The Grand Opening is planned for the end of July.

Great to know! I have alwasy been a little wary of ebay myself and for awhile was consigning but figured out I actually got the most from setting up a by appointment Yard sale of sorts in my dining room and posting it on Craigs list. People made appointments and came and went shopping. It takes a little more time and is not great if you only have a couple pieces but works great if you are selling tons of baby and kid stuff.
I went to the Arboretum location and was totally surprised about how little I got for my stuff. I ended up selling my stuff to them- just because I needed to get rid of the stuff that day because we were moving. Sold- 3 car seats, 1 pack-n-play, and 2 feeding chairs and got $14. I know Craig's List or a Yard Sale is A LOT of work, but in the long run maybe worth trying before consigning.
I had the same experience at the Arboretum location. I called in advance to check that they were buying maternity clothes however out of my entire huge basket of items (probably 40 pieces – all name brand and mainly business clothing), the only thing they wanted to buy was my nursing pillow for $9. I ended up selling these items on ebay and made a decent amount of money off of them. Hopefully our experiences are not typical because I think the idea of kid to kid and the stores are wonderful.
I heard the same thing about the new one in Cotswold, can't remember the name of it. Looks like we may need to stick to our tried and true church consignment sales and the twins sale. Krista, thanks for the heads up – it's always good to know these places are here. They just may need to get their act together and know their brands.
Yikes, sorry ladies! I sold something today and made some cash, but I could have made more on Craig's List (you are right). So, maybe this place is good for items that are bulky or if you are in a pinch? Having a backup isn't terrible, right?!
I guess it makes sense that I'm not going to get rich at Kid to Kid. That's probably part of how they keep their prices so much lower on the things they sell. I think I'll keep taking my stuff to Kid to Kid where I know I can get cash up front, and if there are things they aren't able to take then I can try Craigslist or Ebay.
That's such helpful information! I've made so much on craigs list it's crazy — car seat and stroller together for $250, stroller for $100, bike for $100, and the list goes on! I haven't really found it any hassle at all — I just post the listing which takes a couple minutes and then handle a couple email responses. Most folks come, swap money and leave in seconds. Smaller stuff is so appreciated at Florrence Crittendon Home behind CMC– these moms take their babies home to virtually nothing and really appreciated all the baby blankets, nursing pillows, baby proofing stuff I gave them. Now I'm trying to sell this STOKKE crib/toddler bed that's so awesome. I was just about to go to Kid to Kid….might try facebook marketplace? Any experience with that?
Probably a great place to buy but its a ripoff to sell- same experience as some others, they offer you a couple dollars for a big bin of stuff.
If you are selling smaller sizes you will not get much because everybody has a ton of this stuff in great condition. I took 2 18 gallon tubs of 3 and 4T and they took one whole tub and gave me over $80….It was way easier than hanging and tagging. My stuff is not high end and most of it I bought used for $2 or $3 a piece so I was pretty happy It just depends on what you are selling if it is right for you.
I commented above about my not-so-great experience when attempting to sell my maternity clothes at kid-to-kid. I stopped by again today with 2 bins of children's clothing. They took one bin's worth for a bit over $50 in store credit. I am feeling much more optimistic about selling things there now!
