By our Smarty friends at Trinity Episcopal School
Dear Director of Admission,
Oh no! It’s January and I thought THIS was the time to visit schools. I planned to start earlier to learn more about independent schools in Charlotte, but I got busy – and now I’ve been told that the deadline for admission applications at many schools is January 15!
Does that mean I can’t apply for the 2014-15 school year? Help!
Sincerely,
A Frantic Mom
Dear Frantic Mom,
No worries, take a deep breath and let me explain. You’re right that January 15 was the deadline for first-round applications at most independent schools. At Trinity Episcopal School and other private schools, we don’t always fill all of our classes during the first round, so we continue to accept applications after that January 15th deadline.
The one important thing you should remember is that no one attends school unless an application is turned in! So call the Director of Admission at the schools you are considering and schedule an appointment to learn more about their admissions process.
When you complete your child’s admission application, remember to include all the required pieces – testing and teacher recommendations. In addition, call the Admission Office to schedule your child’s classroom observation. At Trinity, we invite prospective students to be a “Wildcat for a Day”. They are paired with a current Trinity student to experience first-hand our inclusive diverse community of learners and participate in our invigorating, engaging and collaborative academic program.
Charlotte is a city where people move in and out all the time, so spots may become available even during the summer. No matter when you apply, there may be a spot for your child right away or you may be placed in a “wait pool”, but class lists are not always finalized by the first day of school in August. There’s still time to apply!
Have faith that your child will end up in the school that is the right fit for him or her and for your family. If it’s not in the cards for this upcoming school year, you can ask the Director of Admission to roll over your application for the next school year.
Choosing the school for your child’s educational foundation is so important. Take your time to explore school websites and schedule a campus tour. Trinity invites prospective parents to attend one of our upcoming Super Tours – January 28, February 25 or March 28, at 9:45am. We invite you to visit our beautiful Uptown campus to see the Trinity experience in action. For more information, visit www.TEScharlotte.org or call 704. 358. 8101.
All the best-
