Hello there Smarties! There is a lot going this weekend from plays to Earth Day celebrations, there is even a festival for your dog. Designer House is back and if you have been spring cleaning, Queens University is hosting a Goodwill Drive. There is one event I would like to bring to your attention that is happening today at SouthPark Mall. The Road to Healthy Skin Tour is rolling through town and if you have not had a skin check up, please make the time to visit SouthPark and get a quick skin check up. I have had melanoma and I know how very important this is. Also want to remind you to sign up to Walk the Course Against Domestic Violence at Quail Hollow next Tuesday, April 27. Columbia and Belk are proud to host The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Road to Healthy Skin Tour
April 21, 10:00am-4:00pm
This event provides skin cancer screening by a local board-certified dermatologist, information on skin conditions, treatments, products and tips on protecting your skin from the sun. The Tour bus (a 38-foot RV with two exam rooms) will make an estimated 80 stops in 24 states. We hope you’ll be able to stop by for a screening, try some sunscreen samples, or just to pick up a few brochures and say hi! And be sure to check this site regularly for news from the road, including schedule updates; pictures from our photo gallery; tour statistics, and more.
Thanks to Holly B. from Columbia Sportswear for the heads up and make sure you check out their sportswear products that have SPF of 30-50 and are endorsed by the Skin cancer Foundation. I wear their long sleeve light weight fishing shirts when out in the sun and as a swim suit cover-up!

2nd Annual Gray’s Gang Walk-n- Roll will raise money for SMA(Spinal Muscular Atrophy)research

Gray ‘s Gang is a 100% volunteer organization established in 1999 committed to defeating the deadly disease of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Our mission is to raise awareness about SMA, and to raise money to facilitate a cure. Right now there is no cure or treatment for SMA. However, research is moving forward at an accelerated pace, and a cure for SMA is a realistic and attainable goal. To date, Gray’ s Gang has raised over $150,000 for SMA.
Gray Dougherty , an eleven year old boy, is just like any other eleven year old boy exc=pt his muscles do not allow him to walk, run or be physical like other chi=dren. Gray has a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA=. He uses a power wheelchair to walk and run. Gray is in the fifth grade at Selwyn Elementary School . Gray is exceptionally bright and an inspiration to everyone he meets.

Bedraggled young squire Arthur forgets his master’s sword and has to find a substitute, fast, or risk losing his job. What’s a young squire to do? Grab the nearest sword he can find, of course, never mind that it’s sticking out of a big rock. And the rest, as they say, is history. Or at least legend. This fast-moving production features a sprinkling of well known Arthurian stories, making it a perfect introduction to Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Lancelot and the Ogre, and King Arthur and the most adorable little dragon you have ever seen.
