Star Gazer: A Trek Into Outer Space

Summary: A Trek Into Outer Space blends 3D mapping with dance and circus arts to fly you through our solar system. Stella is a young and curious girl who gazes out her bedroom window one night at the stars and the moon wondering what it would be like to visit the other planets.

Summary: Walk for the Animals is the HSC’s annual 2K fundraising walk. This is a fun family walk for people and pets of all ages. Walk with your pet or on your own. You’ll have a great time and you’ll get a warm furry feeling by raising money to help the animals. Your walk registration fee and fundraising proceeds will help us to meet our event goal of $160,000. Come and walk!! The shelter pets will love you for it.

Matthews Earth Day on the Greenway & Kids in Nature Day

Summary: The Earth Day celebration starts behind the Matthews Community Center at the 4-Mile Creek Greenway trail head and winds along the Greenway to Squirrel Lake Park. Along the way, visit earth-friendly exhibitors and take advantage of recycling opportunities, educational booths, shopping, and a few freebies. There will be music, food options, and cool scavenger hunts.

Summary: In its fourth year, Tuck Fest continues to grow and be rooted in the overall outdoor experience, giving guests of all ages and skill levels the chance to try something new. It’s about being active by taking part in a competition or simply enjoying the music and atmosphere. Featuring over 20 competitions in and around the river as well as live bands and participation from leaders in the outdoor industry, the festival invites athletes, spectators, and musicians to celebrate the outdoor lifestyle.

Summary: This collaborative effort between the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is a 102,000-square-foot facility recently ranked by Livability.com as the No. 1 children’s library in the United States. ImaginOn features two state-of-the-art theaters, a dedicated library space for kids 11 and under, four multi-use classrooms, a teen-only library, a multimedia production studio, and interactive exhibit space.

Summary: Carolina Raptor Center is dedicated to environmental stewardship and the conservation of birds of prey through education, research, and the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned raptors. As a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, CRC relies on public financial support to fulfill our mission. Supporters can release a raptor, adopt a bird, make a charitable donation, purchase a membership or sponsor a capital improvement project. CRC’s environmental education programs reach approximately 40,000 students each year. Our Raptor Trail hosts more than 35,000 visitors a year.
