So on this important day to us at CSP, we’re putting on our “Jen B Hat” as we like to call it. We’ve decided that the upcoming week will be dedicated to helping our community, something Jen was very passionate about. In the wake of the devastation in Haiti, we wanted to use our voice to help in relief efforts, big and small. We are honored to present you with Smarty Mom, Adri Warrick who is leading the charge with her “Artwork for Haiti” campaign.
As Adri’s young children continued to ask her how they could help the children in Haiti, a lightbulb went off in her head. One of Adri’s relatives is an MD in the Navy who is currently on board the USNS Comfort Ship. She, along with hundreds of other doctors, are working around the clock to help the wounded people of Haiti. After Adri reached out to her to see what her children could do, this was the response she received:
“Thank you for the well wishes and support. It is difficult, and sad, but I look around at the stoic faces of the Haitian patients and I am amazed and humbled by their strength. They truly are the brave ones, as they know their home is gone and the country is desperate that they are returning to. There are a lot of kids Hank’s age here and grown-ups who have lost their families and children. Maybe he or his class at school could send pictures or cards to the ship telling people to get well and be strong. Crayons, coloring books, that sort of thing might be good.”
Let’s band together as a Smarty community and teach our children about helping others by simply drawing a picture for another child who has nothing. In addition, the next time you’re in Target, swing by the art supplies aisle and grab some crayons and coloring books. This would truly brighten a child’s day who desperately needs it. If you do not live in town and wish to send a donation, feel free to do so and Adri’s team will purchase the art supplies. Artwork, art supplies and donations can be mailed to:
