It’s that time of year again. It’s summertime and the film festivals will begin! Regal and AMC Theatres are having great deals on movies for the family. What a fabulous idea for rainy days or just to change things up a bit. Now, I always said that my kids wouldn’t watch too much TV and they barely watched anything until they were two. Now that they have seen a decent amount; it’s a complete obsession for them. I have no worries that they will be able to sit through a movie. Not sure if at three years old, that’s a good thing.
Regal Theatres is having their Free Family Film Festival that has been an annual event since 1991. They will show a G or PG movie at 10 A.M. every Tuesday, Wednesday and some Thursdays for nine weeks. Best of all it’s FREE! Now all we need is BYOP. That would be pop (or soda / Cheerwine for you Southerners :)). Not to confuse with BYOB. Lord, help us if we need a drink at 10 am. Not that there haven’t been days when I have thought about it……Anyways, it is first come, first serve basis limited to theatre capacity. This kicks off on June 16th and ends August 13th. See the following link for more information.

Dana – thank you for this posting! I have always wanted to partake in the movie fest but have not yet, so we look forward to seeing some movies this summer. Any idea on how early we need to line up, or how insane it gets? would love to hear from those who have done this in past years.thanks again for your great posts!!!
I went to one at Stonecrest a few years ago, and we didn't get there very early (maybe 5 minutes early). They had the movie playing on more than one screen, so we didn't have a problem finding a seat. It may be more crowded now.
Depends on the movie (and if the other movie is popular or not) and how many camps/daycares send buses those days. If you see a bus pull up, run inside! 😉
thank you all, sounds like it's worth trying out!
Do they happen to turn down the volume a bit for these kids movies b/c my son wouldn't like how loud normal movies are in a theater.
Unfortunately, they don't usually turn the volume down…and with the free offer, the crowd can get kinda noisy too. I have a son with pretty sensitive ears and we don't do the movie thing, which bums me out b/c I love to settle into a theater movie every once in a while. This is such a GREAT offer, but just my two cents.
