Smarties, I am so excited to be able to recommend Discover with Dr. Cool’s science products. Santa gave the Break Open Geode set to my middle daughter last Christmas and it turned her into a rock hound. She became enamored with gems, how to find and identify them. As a result we had several summer day trips built around discovering gems and minerals in North Carolina.
My kids are now obsessed with Gold Rush Alaska and Dr. Cool delivers with a Gold Nugget Excavation Kit and a Learn How to Pan for Gold kit. They both are a great introduction to gold or Pyrite and each kit includes an info and adventure guide. As a parent you can’t ask for more than a gift that teaches, sparks a love of discovery, science and is hands on.
Now for the best part – we have a Break Open Geode kit ($29.99) and 3 Golden Nugget Excavation Kit’s ($14.95) to Giveaway!!

Break Open Real Geodes and Find Crystal Treasure!
The geodes in this kit are millions of years old and were formed when prehistoric volcanoes erupted. Break open these real geodes to discover the incredible crystal formations hidden inside! The basic geode kit includes 6 geodes from 1 mine so your rock hound can experience a wide variety of crystal formations which could include: Quartz, fluorite, calcite, or even amethyst! Geodes are an amazing natural phenomenon, and cracking them open is a thrill for all ages! Includes safety goggles and a geode adventure guide. Geodes range in size from 1.5″ — 2″ in diameter.
Golden Nugget Excavation Kit!
Excavate 3 genuine golden nuggets just like a real treasure hunter with this incredible hands-on science kit! Buried inside the gold bar shaped digging brick you’re young treasure hunter will think they hit the mother lode as they uncover 3 genuine pyrite specimens. Pyrite is also known as “fool’s gold” because many of the miners that found this glistening mineral thought they had struck it rich! Do you think your friends can tell the difference? Or will these golden nuggets fool them as well? This hands-on dig kit includes an excavation tool, brush, magnifying glass, and a full-color information guide so that you can learn all about gold. The info guide was written by teachers and will teach you about gold mining, and the various uses of gold throughout history. Plus, there’s an activity booklet with 10 fun games, puzzles, and challenges to complete. What a great way to start a rock and mineral collection. This is a must-have gift for the rock hound or treasure hunter in your house!

This is WAY cool, my little girl would love this kit! When I was a kid, I would say the coolest gift was my Atari. Funny thing is, I’m not much of a gamer, I liked playing outdoors the best. But that was an awesome gift.
My boys love these types of toys…. we have previously gone through many digging and rock collecting kits! Probably not what I would have picked as a kid, I loved my Easy Bake Oven!!!
My little scientists would love this! I loved dolls and my play kitchen as a kid.
My son would love this! I spent hours as a kid building with omagles. The best part is my dad saw them online, and this year my boys are getting a set.
