One of our Smarty partners, Charlotte Preparatory School, suffered a devastating fire on its campus in June that destroyed its lower school building. The school has set up temporary classrooms for the start of the school year but is planning to rebuild in “ways that make our campus even better,” Head of School Chris Marblo wrote to parents in a letter.” We checked in with Charlotte Prep to find out the latest and here is information we received on 3 ways people can help.
In every good story, the hero faces a significant challenge. On June 26th, Charlotte Prep’s campus changed forever with the loss of our beloved Lower School building. But on June 27th, we came together to rebuild.
From crisis comes opportunities, and these are ours: To build a state-of-the-art facility. To lay strong foundations for future generations of learners. And to model for our students that our story goes on—and even becomes richer and more meaningful—when unexpected challenges arise.
But we can’t do it alone.
Whether you’re a current or former parent, grandparent, student, alum, faculty, staff, or a friend of Charlotte Prep, you can help us write the next chapter by volunteering your time or making a financial contribution below. We are #OnePrepStrong, and we know this story has a great ending.
1. Volunteer
There will be many ways for community members to volunteer in the coming months. Please use this form to express interest in volunteering. If you have additional ideas for ways to help, please contact Christie Cole at ccole@charlotteprep.org.
2. Donate
Our school has excellent insurance that will provide funds for the replacement of both the building and its contents. However, we plan to build a modern facility that will serve the Charlotte community well into the future, which will have great costs beyond the amount required simply for replacement. Your financial support is critical to making this happen. Contact: Heidi Kelley at hkelley@charlotteprep.org or 617-947-3566 or donate here.
3. Business Support
If you own or know of a business that is interested in providing assistance, please complete this form, and we will reach out to you. Contact: Heidi Kelley at hkelley@charlotteprep.org or 617-947-3566.
