Not to brag, but I think we’ve finally got back-to-school shoe-shopping down to a science! I have three boys – a 7-year-old and 5-year-old twins – and I used to dread shoe-shopping for back to school. Trying to corral all three of them, get them to the store, outfitted and out the door was a production. It usually required another adult with me or multiple trips where I could bring one or two at a time.
Kixx Shoes in Park Village has always been our go-to place because the sales staff there always made it so easy on us. They understand what you’re dealing with as parents and they seem to have an endless supply of toys, lollipops – and patience! – to help put young ones at ease and to minimize their fidgets during the visit.
By now, though, the boys and I both know the drill, and I can do it on my own. We just show up to Kixx. The boys look forward to it, now, and ask all the time when we can go and get news shoes. And when we do, they know right where to go in the store to find the shoes they like.
Each boy picks a pair or two of shoes he likes the look of, gets measured, and waits to see what colors and styles the sales person brings back in his size. Then each boy will try some on, take a quick trip around the store, get thumb-measured by the sales clerk – and voila! Three new pairs of shoes. I think we were in and out in 15 minutes with the twins yesterday morning, and they wanted their brother to come back the same day after we picked him up from basketball camp. So with Wade still in his high socks – the camp theme of the day – we found him a great pair of New Balance shoes. In a matter or 10 minutes, we were done!
Most importantly, I don’t have to worry and overthink what shoe fits and how much room we have to grow, because the sales staff takes all the guessing out of it. They know which shoes run small, or which are best for wide feet. And they know that you don’t want to be back in a month or two because the shoe is too tight for a growing foot!
Back to School Sale
This time of year, Kixx runs a great back-to-school promotion that runs throughout the month of August. It’s a must for parents of multiple kids or for parents just looking to stock up with multiple pairs for their child. You get $5 off the first pair of shoes, $7 off the second, $9 off the third and so on, for as many as 10 pairs of shoes and $23 off the tenth pair.
The deal runs throughout the month and is good for as many siblings or trips to the store as you make. The sales staff keeps track of all you have purchased for all of your children and what sizes they wear on their computer. Just another way they make it super easy. The information is already there if you decide to drop in and pick up another pair.
