Staying in town for Memorial Day weekend and looking for something fun to do with the family? Here are a few Smarty ideas!
Berry picking
One of our favorite local farms, The Ivy Place, which is just a short drive away in Lancaster, S.C. is in that sweet spot on the calendar when they’re finishing up the strawberry season and right on the cusp of the blueberry season. You might be lucky enough to get to pick a little of both! The farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and no appointment is required. For more information about their produce, click here.
Visit the Sea-Life Aquarium.
It’s conveniently located in Concord Mills, is the perfect length activity for kids of all ages (and attention spans!) and you can reserve tickets here to assure your family a spot. Also, the Sea-Life Aquarium is preparing to open a Sea Turtle Rescue Center on June 8. Click here for a chance to write in to win a chance to visit. You can make your case for being either the biggest sea turtle fan or because you’ve never seen one!
Take a Train Ride
The North Carolina Transportation Museum is open Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 and offering free admission to the museum and one free train ride each for active members of the military and for veterans. Train rides begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For more information and to plan your visit, go to their website.
