Winter has arrived in the NC mountains and we could not be more excited! What better way to spend your winter break than to hit the slopes in the NC Mountains! We’re so lucky that our favorite ski/snowboard spot, Beech Mountain Resort, is a hop, skip and a jump from the QC!
Beech Mountain Resort is the best spot in the NC Mountains for snowboarders and skiers alike. The snow right now is perfect after a week of snowfall, Plym kids will be shredding all winter break!
Here are the programs at Beech – of course our adult faves are the 5506′ Skybar and the Beech Mountain Brewing Company – views for days and a fireplace to cozy up with a cocktail. Doesn’t get any better!
Burton Learn to Ride Center:
The Plym kids have grown up with snowboard and ski lessons at Beech and are forever hooked. It’s crazy how easy and naturally snowboarding and skiing comes to kids. (Note: If your kids can Ripstick, then they’ll be tee’d up perfectly for the kick-booty Burton Learn to Ride Center at Beech.)
Whether you’re a beginner or progressive rider, you’re never too old to learn new tricks. With hands-on lessons from the best-trained instructors, anyone can experience the fun and excitement of snowboarding. Burton’s ‘Learn to Ride’ program makes getting on a snowboard fun and easy. It’s for ages 6-18 years. With high-quality gear made specifically for beginners, the best hands-on instruction and a low pressure learning environment, their goal is to get everyone up and running before they know it!
Beech Mountain Ski and Ride School:
The professional ski and snowboard instructors at Beech Mountain Resort have a wealth of experience combined with a sharp focus on customer service. Whether you want to master more advanced techniques, or try skiing or snowboarding for the first time, their team of experts can customize lessons to suit all ability levels.
Don’t forget to check out Beech’s newly renovated Childcare Center, Snow Kamp, and Traxx if you’ve got kids of all ranges or want a little day-ski-date. 🙂

Either rent at Beech Mountain Resort (their snowboards and skis/boots are all nice and new) or get your gear here in Charlotte at Alpine Ski Center so you can just hit the lift as soon as you get there. Smarty Tip: Get your rental equipment as soon as they open or you’ll be waiting for a while.

Fred’s General Mercantile is a MUST. We are HUGE fans of Fred’s and their Backside Deli serves the best breakfast on the mountain!
Smarty Pick for Dinner in Town:
Famous Brick Oven Pizza has the BEST pizza, pasta, desserts on the mountain, seriously! SOOOOO good!
