This past month has been inspiring as I have witnessed incredible dedication, commitment, and passion as people have responded to situations without hesitation. There is a unity that motivates us to each do our personal best and help support each other to navigate new things and problems. I have seen this with our students, faculty, parents, and the greater John Crosland School community. There is a dedication to the common good that I find inspirational. I am proud to be a part of our community.
For families and individuals that are having a more difficult time with Distance Learning or the “new normal”, we are creating additional accommodations to support their needs while having grace and understanding. For instance, we set timelines, but are avoiding any penalties and view them more as guidelines. As a school focused on celebrating and supporting students with learning differences, we are well versed in being flexible and working with individualized plans.
Crosland is also focused on social support and opportunities to connect socially. Many of us have a strong sense of isolation right now, and The John Crosland School is piloting opportunities to bring laughter and happiness to our students as they return from spring break. Personally I was thrilled about returning to our Google Meets sessions on Monday morning as the structure, schedule, and student connections provide comfort for me too! See below.
A Morning Meeting Zoom to talk about the schedule, feelings, and support the students with a visit from our therapy dog, Bruce:
