This is our BIG week here in Smartyland – our annual holiday toy gift guide. We divvy ’em up by ages and our Smarty bloggers get to work helping Santa figure out who gets what. Today Smarties Caris, Jen V., and Carroll dish on what the 3-5 age group is wishin’ for.

Smarty Holiday Gift Guide: Ages 3-5
Lite Brite: A timeless game that is good for all ages. It allows quite creativity.
Crayola Mess-Free Magic Light Brush: Everything from this line is awesome! You can let your little ones to be creative use a paint brush without the stress of a mess!
Melissa and Doug Fresh Mart Grocery Store: A little bigger price point, but this would be the perfect Santa gift! I see hours and hours of imaginative play for our little Smarties.
ThinkFun Roll and Play game: This is a great interactive game for the whole family! You roll the dice, and depending on the color there is a different activity. The cards have writing as well as an image so it works for all ages. It’s great for getting the wiggles out!
Alex Brands: If you have a creative little Smarty anything from this brand would be the perfect gift! They offer different craft boxes that range from paper bag puppets, to sewing, to nail art. They also have an amazing collection of science boxes as well. It would be hard to go wrong with any choice!
Lab Coat for Kids
My kids LOVE to dress up and have since age two! This is a fun dress up for when they want to play something other than a princess or superhero – a scientist! My kids love to explore and now they can really play the part with this dress up ensemble, including a lab coat, goggles and name badge. Let’s just get the Diet Coke and Mentos ready now…
Hatching Toothless: If your little smarty is a fan of dragons this would be the ultimate gift!! Baby toothless hatches from his egg after some rocking and knocking. Once he’s out of his shell your little Smarty can teach him how to fly, plasma-blast and feed him when he’s hungry. Toothless will interact by flapping his wings, growling and lighting up his eyes. How cool does this sound?!
Little Kids Fubbles No-Spill Big Bubble Bucket – Ingenious invention – a way tots can access “bubble juice” without spilling it everywhere. We survived the summer with three boys 3 and under playing in the backyard with this toy. (We disregarded the suggested minimum age of 3.) Each boy could access it on his own; there was no fighting over bubble wands. And nobody had to try to stick little fingers down into a bubble jar to retrieve them – including Mama. And what child doesn’t love bubbles?
Magna-Tiles – A versatile, durable, educational toy that your child will love playing with for extended amounts of time – a great “quiet time” activity. But they’re also fun for parents to get down on the floor and play with too for some great interaction with your kids. They’re easy to manipulate, easy to clean, and addictive to build with – try it! (PS this was recommended by TWO Smarties!)
Husqvarna 589746401 Leaf Toy Plastic Blower – This is one of those toys our sons fight over, so we have to hide it until we’re reading to dole out turn-taking. We get why they love it though. It’s created by the company that makes the real leaf blowers and has such an authentic and fun vibe for little kids, right down to the sound it makes and the puff of air that comes out of the tube.
