When you have two girls and you find out your pregnant again, almost everyone will say You know it’s going to be another girl. Your chances of having a boy after two girls is so slim, and I was 100% happy with that. I love my girls. I get girls. I know what to expect with girls. And I LOVE shopping for my girls! So when the gender balloon covered us in BLUE confetti earlier this year you can only imagine our reaction. True shock, happy tears, my husband’s face was priceless while my youngest daughter actually hit the popped balloon and pouted because she wanted another sister (she’s excited now for baby boy, thankfully)!
The very next morning my husband showed me pictures and ideas of what he wanted the new boy nursery to look like. He must of not slept a second the night before but I loved his ideas! He had lived with lots of pink, purple, unicorns, and baby dolls the last five years and did it with lots of love but he was definitely excited for this new adventure. So it began.
I have posted some of the boy nursery progress on my personal social pages and have had lots of people asking about a few of the features, so I’m excited to share these with the Smarty community! My hope with this nursery is that it will be an easy transition as he gets older. We tried to stay away from a theme but keep a rustic feel to the room.
The statement and one of my absolute favorite parts of the room is the wood pallet accent wall. I love it! We kept the wood its natural color and we could not believe how it makes the room feel bigger. When watching the wood being put on the wall it was truly like watching a game of old school Tetris with size, color, and shape all matching up. We couldn’t be happier! 
Another very special piece in our baby boy’s nursery is the custom sign made at the new Anders Ruff Workshop in downtown Pineville. I had recently gone to a friend’s birthday party here and made a custom family sign and fell in love with the place. I knew as soon as I left I wanted to make something for the nursery. My oldest daughter (5) and I went a couple weeks later and together made a custom sign to hang in baby’s room. I cherished every single minute. We sanded, stained, painted and stenciled a favorite bible verse and his name at the bottom. My daughter signed her name on the back, it was so sweet. Something I will never forget and he will hopefully have forever.
And something new, I’ve never done before – maternity pictures. But so glad I did! Especially because my girls loved doing them too. Another unique and very special family piece to have in baby boys new room. They are not on the walls quite yet but will be within the next couple days. Cannot wait!
It has been so fun getting ready for this new adventure. Sometimes I feel like a fish out of water shopping for blues, neutrals and all things boy. But the countdown is definitely on and we cannot wait to meet this active little one in my belly!
