I first met Stevanna “Stevee” Baskerville when she called to welcome me into our church’s congregation. Stevee immediately made me feel welcome, and I am now fortunate to call her my friend. She has a natural ability to be straightforward with a down-to-earth sensibility. Her heart and beauty shine through her children, who are some of the funniest people to be around. Basically, all the Baskerville’s make you smile and laugh a lot. I was also fortunate to “work” with Stevee when she represented us as buyers and sellers. Since she doesn’t brag on herself below (or ever), I will step in and give her a huge high-five and shoutout for being a top producer with Dickens Mitchener for several years in a row. If she looks familiar, it’s because you have seen her picture in many publications and online for this recognition. As you will see, Stevee just gets to the point with grace and not a lot of pomp and circumstance.

You were a physicians assistant coming out of school, tell us about that experience.
I really enjoyed being a PA. I initially worked in family practice and then specialized in Ear Nose and Throat. The patient interaction and education piece was what I found most rewarding.
How did you transition into real estate and become a top producer for Dickens Mitchener?
My husband and I dabbled in real estate investing for a while. I took a few years off to spend time with my kids, and when I felt the pull back to the work force, residential real estate seemed like a good option. I started over 5 years ago when the market was quite slow, so I was able to spend time with very successful agents at Dickens Mitchener who had the time to mentor me. As business continued to increase with the market improvement I was able to take it on with confidence. Real Estate has been a great fit for me and offers great job satisfaction.
What is the most challenging and and rewarding part of real estate?
I love the flexibility of the job. Even though I work many more hours as a realtor than I did as a PA, I still have some level of control over my schedule. The client interaction and education piece is again, what I find most rewarding. No transaction is ever the same, which keeps things interesting.
Any advice for people looking to sell or buy in the near future?
Things are moving at a fairly quick pace. That can be daunting for people who prefer to take their time. Make sure you connect with an agent that has experience in the areas you are interested in and who have a pulse on things ready to hit the market.
What are some mistakes sellers make?
I’m not sure about mistakes, but I know it can be challenging to keep your home show ready at all times.
What should buyers be aware of?
When you are purchasing in a hot market, you need to be ready to make a move if the situation feels right. At the same time, trust your gut if it tells you to hold off.
Any other advice about the Charlotte market?
The growth and improvements in many areas of the city are pretty impressive. Don’t be afraid to venture into new neighborhoods.
You have been involved with your church’s youth group for years.
Any advice for parents considering youth group for their kids? I say get involved and stay involved, even if your child doesn’t love it the first or second time. Relationships built in youth group can last well beyond the middle school and high school years.
Why has volunteering with the youth been so important to you and your husband?
I have always enjoyed working with young people. Selfishly, I want a strong youth group for my kids. We felt supporting the church in this way prior to our kids aging in would be helpful. Next year my son joins, so we are out…He will definitely have more fun without us there.
Your family has a great sense of humor! What are some funny things your kids have said? Fit for print?? Just kidding.
They both have a quick wit that keeps me on my toes. Sometimes it takes a beat before I get that what they just said is truly funny and so smart!
Favorite family activity in Charlotte:
So many things…going to the white water rafting center, biking on the greenway, hiking Crowder’s mountain, going to Knights baseball games, bowling at Park 10…I guess the list gets pretty long. Bottom line, we try our best to enjoy all Charlotte has to offer while they still like hanging out with us.
What books or series have your kids enjoyed reading?
They are both book lovers. The latest is the Harry Potter Series.

Stevee as a daughter was very special. So talented in so many areas, yet one of her outstanding traits was empathy for others. That has made her a great daughter, PA, Realtor, and friend. Thank you for your kind words.
