Tickets are on sale now for the Charlotte Youth Ballet’s (CYB) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This is the first performance of the 35th season of the non-profit regional ballet company and the start of their Spring 2016 season. CYB tells us that this production will blend internationally-renown professional principles with local youth dancers for imaginative, family-friendly production.
In case you’re not familiar with the story, the ballet tells the age-old story of Snow White, a lonely princess living with her stepmother, the vain and wicked Queen. Threatened by the Queen, Snow White escapes to a forest cottage where she meets seven delightfully different dwarfs. One day, the disguised evil Queen gives Snow White a poisoned apple that lulls her into an eternal sleep.
As the dwarfs watch over the sleeping Snow White, a Prince arrives who had long ago met and fallen in love with her. Saddened by her apparent death, he kisses her, breaking the spell and awakening her from slumber.
Featuring almost 100 dancers, the production is a blend of international guest artists and regional youth dancers, creating this story loved by generations.

A special preview performance for students and seniors is at 10:00 am March 18.
All shows are at the Dale Halton Theater on the CPCC main campus.
