As moms, we take care of our kids, our husbands, our pets, our friends, our siblings….you catch my drift. We often leave little time for ourselves. One thing I find that is imperative to keep me sane is making time for exercise. I’m pretty good about this, but every now and then I need to push myself harder or mix things up. That’s what I did when I signed up for the Flywheel Challenge this fall. It wasn’t about anyone else. It was about me and keeping myself healthy & fit.
28 Days sounds like a lot. However, the Flywheel 28 Days to Fit Challenge didn’t feel like a long time. It flew by and I truly loved it. It really wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be. I was amazed about how this challenge was totally doable. I found it was a great way to push myself and hold myself accountable especially before the holidays (it ran Oct. 24th – Nov. 24th)
For this challenge you had to complete 4 Flywheel classes a week for 4 weeks & follow to the best of your ability their eating plan. Flywheel Charlotte gives you all the tools to succeed in their challenge. First of all, they have amazing instructors that push you in each class to do your best. I can’t tell you how many times I have felt motivated to do more in a class than I thought I could do. Flywheel is one of those workouts that you just have to show up for and you know you‘ll get a great workout! For this challenge, Flywheel also matches you up with a coach. I got Jenna who was great. Jenna was encouraging every step of the way! She emailed you weekly and checked in with you at the studio every chance she could. Love her!
In addition was a practical eating plan that made the Flywheel 28 Days to Fit Challenge totally doable. The nutrition plan focused on clean eating and making good healthy choices. It was as simple as that. They gave you a great handout with recipes and nutritious choices. I use it now all the time. What you eat is just as important as the exercise you are doing.
So did it work?? I know you want to know this? YES. It did amazing things for my body. I dropped 4 pounds! Woo Hoo! For me that is amazing, because it is those 4 pounds my body always wants to hold on to and that I often have trouble keeping off. However it wasn’t JUST about losing weight. I gained muscle too. I think we need to take less focus off the scale and about how our body looks & feels. I felt amazing! My arms looked lean and ripped, but I can tell you I saw it more in my waist than anywhere. Eating clean and taking 4 Flywheel classes a week can’t help but lean out your body!! Honestly, I was the leanest after this challenge than I had been in a very long time, but I was also stronger. It was just a win, win.
Now after all those holiday parties and decadent food, I know I am not where I want to be, but I am not too far off. I also know I am not alone and it’s not a big deal. I am not going to beat myself up about it! I know what I need to do because this challenge gave me the tools to know what to do. I can easily up my Flywheel classes and be stricter about what I am eating. I also heard there is another Flywheel Challenge coming up soon! I would encourage anyone and everyone to do it! Grab some friends and sign up together. I might just sign up myself again. I truly felt amazing while doing it and loved that it was just about me.
