What Parents Say about Myers Park Baptist Church’s Through-the-Week School
“We will never forget the fabulous teachers at Through-the-Week School. They build a strong foundation for my children to grow and prosper. The TTWS teachers track our children’s progress from year to year and help parents to be partners in our children’s early education. They have a big heart for the children. I could go on and on.” – Jennifer, mother of 2 TTWS students
“I love everything about TTWS, but one of the things I most value is the school’s commitment to fostering a sense of community among the children, their families, and the staff. TTWS accomplishes this through a strong partnership between the staff and the school’s Parent Council who organize fun events throughout the school year. In August, TTWS families gather for preschool playdates for every class before school begins which is a great way for the kids to ease into making new friends. From informal coffee socials and parents’ night out gatherings to valuable parent education programs, parents have ample opportunities to get to know one another and make friends. Our family-friendly events throughout the year include a Thanksgiving feast, a Get the Wiggles Out party every winter, a spring children’s art showcase, and a sweet Moving Up Ceremony for our Fours and TK students at the end of the school year. TTWS has felt like home for our family, and I am so grateful for the friends we’ve made at this school.” – Anne, mother of 2 TTWS students
“Through-the-Week School does a wonderful job of balancing play and academics in their classrooms. The children are learning so much to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond, but the teachers present the information in such fun and creative ways that the children see it all as play. Learning is so much fun at TTWS – my kids cannot wait to get to school every day!” – Jenn, mother of 3 TTWS students school.”
“The first time I walked into Through-the-Week School on a prospective parent tour, I was anxious about sending my little two year old off to preschool and wanted to find the perfect place for her. It didn’t take long for me to decide that TTWS was that place for her and our family. As I toured the school and observed the classes, I saw bright, happy and genuine faces on all the teachers and young children who were joyful and engaged. The classes were not chaotic but the children didn’t look stifled either. It seemed like the perfect combination of learning and play and this is exactly what I’ve seen ever since that day 3 years ago when we chose TTWS.” – Brittany, mother of 2 TTWS students
About Myers Park Baptist Through-the-Week School – We Play to Learn!
For almost 60 years, Myers Park Baptist Church’s Through-the-Week School (TTWS) has been dedicated to fostering the development of the whole child – cognitively, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Living by the motto “We Play to Learn,” the preschool provides a safe, nurturing, and fun environment so little ones can build the confidence necessary to explore the world around them. As children grow throughout their preschool years, TTWS emphasizes giving them opportunities to ask questions, find answers, develop early math and language skills, and foster social and self-help skills. By using the Creative Curriculum, Handwriting without Tears, and Investigative Studies, experienced and qualified teachers prepare students for kindergarten and beyond.
Through a partnership with Myers Park Baptist Church’s Cornwell Center, additional after school activities (Soccer Shots, Dance, Spanish, and Yoga) and before- and after- school care are available.
The Through-the-Week School is committed to creating an environment where children can explore, grow, and thrive while doing what children do best – play.
Classes are offered for Toddlers (12-24 months), Twos, Threes, Fours, and Transitional Kindergarten (TK). Registration applications for the 2015-2016 school year are available on the TTWS website. Please contact TTWS’s director, Belinda Geuss, or assistant director, Julie Hammond, for more information or to set up a time to tour the preschool.
