Oh how this Smarty L-O-V-E-S to play the Easter Bunny! Our Easter fun starts with four hand-painted wooden baskets from the Buttercup in Myers Park. This is a 30-year+ Charlotte tradition and these baskets are just presh. My children will use these until college, no matter how big they grow:-)
I’m not a huge fan of loading up with candy and chocolate. Sugar + my kids = Tazmanian devils! So we limit our sweet treats to Peeps, a sprinkle of jelly beans and Reese’s eggs. Here are my fun picks this year for my kids:
Owen & Walker (9)
Our Easter bunny always loads up on practical things that they need, like flip flops. I picked these cool OluKai flips for the boys this year:
And new football socks (P.S. Omega Sports has the BEST selection of Nike socks in town for kids – both locations):
Isabel (11 1/2)
The main filler in Isabel’s basket is Erin McDermott’s PRESH new girls collection – we love elephants, so I picked this colored sprinkles tassle necklace:
And these flips from Tkees (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Tkees!):
And anything from ivivva. We LOVE the Double Dutch Tank (P.S. We have our very own showroom opening in Myers Park in mid-April – stay tuned on this front!):
Ansley (13 1/2)
Keeping the theme of filling the basket with things that we actually need, my pick for teen flip flops is a pair of Palm Beach sandals. These are the original sandal that Jackie-O wore, so much more comfy than Jack Rogers and hand-made in Palm Beach, FL. Plus, at this age, her foot has pretty much stopped growing, so I’m ok with this splurge. She’ll wear them for years to come.
For all:
We LOVE the inspirational message behind these adorable plates from our local Smarty mompreneurs at Fruit-Full Kids:
What about you??
What’s in your basket? Random question: do you hide real hard-boiled eggs or are they stuffed plastic? Inside or outside? We want your tips!
