Getting a meal on the table at the end of a full day of work and picking up the kids from daycare is short of a miracle. It’s so much easier to take short cuts and order a pizza or nuke something super easy, but it’s not always the healthiest. When local Momprenuer Melissa introduced me to Giggle Bites, I was super excited to try it. Afterall, I could only serve so many chicken nuggets and hot dogs to my daughter. Plus, my son was just starting purees and I was eager to get him started on the right path.
Giggle Bites uses fresh fruits and vegetables and is sourced from local farms whenever possible, eliminating the additives and preservatives in many prepackaged foods out in the marketplace today.
When I came home from work, I was excited to see a freezer bag waiting on my doorstep. Inside was an ice pack and four packages, each a different flavor for my kiddos to try.
Each package holds six adorable frozen food stars. Even when thawed out, the stars hold their shape making it extremely easy to grab one out of the bag to use.
My 6-month-old son tried Giggle Bites Firsts’ Pure Mango and Intermediates’ Apples, Cauliflower & Butternut Squash. He tried both of these foods within the first month of ever trying food. We mixed the Pure Mango with cereal and some water and he loved it. Not only did he have it for dinner, but I sent it to daycare and my son’s teachers even commented on how quickly he ate his meals! I felt great knowing that my some of my sons’ first foods were so pure and good for him. The apples, cauliflower & butternut squash was hearty enough to mix with water and nothing else was needed for my son.
For my daughter, she tried Toddler Sneak Ums’ Cauliflower & White Bean, as well as the Spinach & Zucchini. I was very skeptical at first of my daughter trying these, as my once “eat anything” baby has become the pickiest toddler. On the package of each food, there are tips of how to introduce the foods and they worked perfect! For the Cauliflower & White Bean, I mixed it into her macaroni and cheese and she gobbled it up, not knowing that she was getting an extra boost of nutrition! For the Spinach & Zucchini I mixed a star up in some spaghetti sauce to mix with pasta and meatballs. Again, my daughter cleaned her plate. My husband and I ever partook in the enhanced pasta sauce and thought it tasted great. I’m not going to lie, I contemplated snagging one of the Spinach & Zucchini stars and tossing it in my morning smoothie!
Giggle Bites was a HUGE time saver for me and I loved knowing that my kids were getting added nutritional benefits from it. Check out their website’s blog which has even more ways to mix and match these delicious and nutritious foods into your baby and toddlers’ diets.
