Mom, Create Meaningful Memories at Camp Cannon!
Just when you thought you had heard the last of the camp stories from the summer, it happened. Maybe it was the higher-than-average temperatures that sparked the memory, or the video showing the new camp offerings. Whatever it was, it reminded you that we’ve almost made it to summer, and you’re hearing that robotics or orchestra or lacrosse story for, oh, about the twenty-fourth time. How is it that a few weeks each summer can have such an impact on your children that they are still talking about it as if it just happened? Of course you don’t mind—it shows that your investment in summer camp was a good one.
Summer camp memories can last a lifetime—the friends made, the challenges overcome, and the fun had while trying new things. At Camp Cannon, we specialize in enriching summer sessions focused on the Arts, College Prep, SciTech, and Sports, all designed to create meaningful memories for children ages 3-18. Campers learn new skills while having a blast on Cannon School’s 65-acre campus, which includes state-of-the-art classroom facilities, two gymnasiums, a dance studio, athletic fields, a track, tennis courts, and wooded wetlands.
Camp Cannon is a great place for teenagers to spend the summer. Although there are dozens of camp selections for younger campers in science, art, and sports, a special effort is made to entice teens to get off the couch and enroll in engaging summer programs.
Teens can view summer camps as a way to enjoy the time away from school, but also as a way to improve upon a skill, such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, which can help campers succeed in high school, college, and beyond.
Marcia Brashear, Camp Cannon Director, says there are quite a few reasons that children and teens should attend Camp Cannon this summer:
ADVENTURE: Summer camp is a great way to enjoy fun adventures and new experiences, especially exploring the outdoors. Campers can enjoy exploring the wetlands on Cannon’s campus, or participate in adventure camps.
PERSONAL GROWTH: With a change in the normal routine, camps offer a way to gain independence and step outside of one’s comfort zone. Whether it is participating in a performance for the first time during a drama camp or learning new skills to navigate middle school with Athena’s Path or Hero’s Pursuit, campers are sure to end the summer with improved confidence.
NEW FRIENDSHIPS: Campers at Camp Cannon look forward to reuniting with their friends every summer. Amidst the fun and learning involved with oil painting, SAT Prep, 3D printing, and youth rock orchestra, campers build and strengthen friendships that will last well after the summer ends.
MEMORIES: Summer camp is an unforgettable experience that will provide each camper with a lifetime of memories.
So when the next camp story is brought up (for the twenty-fifth time), remember that in addition to the exciting tales they will tell for many, many years, campers also gain skills and experience that can help them navigate a world that promises to be unpredictable. Who knew that a few weeks in the summer could mean so much?
