I have no artistic streak whatsoever. All of the art genes that my children posess come from my husband’s side of the family.
I am so thankful that art class is a part of my children’s pre-school and elementary school curriculums because my kids love some arts and crafts. They truly enjoy any type of art project.
I’m continually amazed with the creativity of art teachers who deliver innovative ideas that fuel art projects.
If you are in the pre-school and kindergarten years, then your kids come home with so much art that it can be a tad overwelming…what to keep? what to toss?
Many times, my kids have peered into the garbage can and wailed, “MOMMEEEEE!?! Who threw this away?!?!” (and it literally could be a coloring book page).
And I lie and say “Oh no! How did that get in there?!?!?” Then, when they are not looking I make sure I bury that stuff deep in the trash.
I have kept and framed a lot of their art and hung in our house. My 3 year old’s art style is abstract and that’s my favorite style of art so he has gotten a lot of wall space in Casa Bowman.
I’ve noticed this “kid art” trend showing up just about everywhere. Check out this photo from a recent Crate & Barrel catalog. Notice the kid art mixed up with photos in this open stairway gallery.
Who said that kid’s art has to be relegated to a play room or bonus room? Brillz!
