The death of a baby at any time during pregnancy is devastating to parents. Hope and dreams are torn apart. Even friends and family members may not know how to acknowledge this very sad and life altering loss.
KinderMourn offers counseling and support for parents who have experienced the death of a baby from early pregnancy through newborn death. Both group and individual sessions are offered. Parents interested in learning more about KinderMourn’s Empty Arms Program are invited to schedule an initial visit with a counselor.
A Parent’s Story
“I was eight months pregnant with our first child when the ultimate tragedy struck our family. Up until that point, my pregnancy had been seemingly so healthy. Just days after a good doctor’s visit, I was not feeling a lot of movement, so I went back. Words cannot express the agony and loneliness my husband and I felt when they told us that we had lost our precious child. We delivered our son that evening and named him Nathan.
In the midst of our intense grief, as we searched relentlessly for answers, KinderMourn became our refuge. We joined the Empty Arms Support Group and immediately bonded with other families who had also experienced losses similar to ours. We talked openly about our children, our dreams for them, and our struggles with moving forward. With the guidance of KinderMourn’s amazing counselors, we helped each other heal. Today, our group continues to stay in touch, and we now rejoice with each other as we welcome new lives into our families.
KinderMourn will always be a place we consider our second home. The grieving process is not an easy one, but because of Kindermourn, we have not only healed, but have found the strength to help others.”
– Elizabeth Bennett, Nathan’s Mom
Sometimes love lasts a moment.
Sometimes love lasts a lifetime.
Sometimes a moment is a lifetime.
Incredible. I know first hand that pain. Having someone to share your loss with is powerfully healing.
