The 6th annual Tyler’s Treehouse 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Olde Georgetowne Swim Club near SouthPark off Sharon Road. The 5K begins at 8am and the 1 mile fun run/walk begins at 9am. A family-friendly post race party will be held at the OG pool until 1pm. This event is being organized in memory of Tyler Scott. Tyler’s Treehouse, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 foundation that is dedicated to helping researchers at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital find a cure for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. This is a deadly cancer that strikes approximately 250 children a year. To date, there is no cure and even more alarming no information on what causes “brainstem glioma.” Tyler’s Treehouse sponsors this revolutionary study and has provided over $500,000 dollars to St Jude in 5 years through its fundraising efforts.
Registration is currently available online at www.SportOften.com. If you want to support TTH but cannot attend, you can register as a “Spirit Runner” and support this wonderful cause “in spirit”. You will receive a wicking t-shirt with your registration as a Spirit Runner.
