Happy Wednesday Smarties. Many of you are enjoying Spring Break and we are all looking forward to a long holiday weekend. In my house everyone is ready for Easter so that they can once again enjoy the things that they gave up for Lent. There are plenty of activities for your family to enjoy this weekend. Many are geared towards the holiday and the celebration of Earth Day. There is also a really cool event at ImaginOn, Flag of Hope. This is your family’s opportunity to participate in a state-wide project celebrating our diversity. Have a very happy Easter, get out and enjoy!

Easter Egg Hunt and Spoon Race

Enjoy a family day of egg hunts, farm tours, historic demonstrations, scavenger hunts, candy and more. Schedule: Egg Hunt-11:15 AM, Scavenger Hunt-NOON, Great Spoon Race-1 PM, Free Facepainting, $3 Hayrides and $1 Highland Cow Feeding all day. Nature Trail and Historic Sites will be open. Proceeds will go toward the preservation and advancement of the educational mission of Historic Rural Hill. Cost is free.

Take a ride on the Easter Bunny Express Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23. The Easter Bunny will be riding alongside children and their parents, while handing out candy for the kids. You can also enjoy the big Easter Egg Hunt April 23 at 12:30 pm for kids 10 and under. Cost is Ages 3 and older, $7; free under age 3.

Children ages 1-10 can hunt for thousands of toy and candy filled eggs throughout the day, across the plantation grounds. Children will hunt with their age groups, and many prize eggs will be hidden! Pre-registration is required. Families are invited to make a day of it and explore the plantation house, grounds, outbuildings, and animals, make crafts, meet the Easter Bunny on the covered wagon, and more! Cost is $5.

Playing for Others
Playing for Others is a leadership training program for teens who are passionate about the arts. Each year, PFO partners with another organization in Charlotte that directly works with children with disabilities. This year, they are raising funds to purchase a virtual music program for the Metro School. They are presenting “Pied Piper–The Musical”, at the Actor’s Theatre beginning Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 8. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.playingforothers.org. For group sales information, call 704-342-2251. This is an amazing show and will be a great outing for families with young children!
