Smarty “Earth” Book Recommendations

I hope you all had a chance to participate in some fun Earth Day activities last week. I am so excited to see the amount of awareness that has developed in the last several years, it is truly inspiring. I can see the curiosity brewing in my boys when I talk to them about recycling and conserving water. Our children are going to make and see major lifestyle changes that will heal our planet and make this a better place for all. So you can imagine how proud I was when my son Austin started taking his drinkable yogurt containers to the recycling bin all on his own! It is so cute. He tells me, “Mama, I am taking this to the recycling bin.” In the spirit of recycling and all that spring will bring, I have some book recommendations that will be loved by you and your little ones.

This one will get you out in the garden!
The Curious Garden by Peter Brown

This will give you a ton of different ways to reuse and recycle items.
What Can You Do with an Old Red Shoe?: A Green Activity Book about Reuse by Anna Alter
Read these on or before your trip to the beach!
Danny & Daisy – A Tale of a Dolphin Duo by Susan Tate
Sammy Shrimp – A Tale of a Little Shrimp by Susan Tate – these are just two of a series of 30. They are SUPER cute. These books are published by Nags Head Art in Manteo, NC. These are available for purchase via Amazon or the author’s website.

I would also recommend A Sea Turtle Story by Mary Maden. This is number four in her Earth/Ocean Adventure series. This book is also available for purchase via Amazon or the author’s website.

These are terrific ways to get your children interested and involved in nature and respecting the environment. My boys love books and these have truly been a delight in our household. Happy reading!
