Hey Ladies! Here is a cool idea for a Christmas/holiday gift for your hubbies. Although I am planning to complete my DVD slideshow as Jen P. had blogged about last week, I’m still planning on getting hubby an extra treat. (The DVD was supposed to be a Father’s Day gift but I didn’t quite get it finished in time. Oops!). One gift my husband always enjoys is a visit to Emerson Joseph.
“Honor the man in the mirror.” Now that’s a message. What man doesn’t want to be doted over and get a little TLC? Emerson Joseph is a men’s only full-service lounge. It’s a sophisticated, yet masculine setting. You can buy services a la carte or they even have annual memberships! The atmosphere is too cool. They can hang out, have a drink, watch the ball game…need I say more? Actually their list of services is quite impressive. They offer a straight razor shave, massages, haircuts, facials, waxing, manicures and even shoe shines and tailoring! You can’t go wrong with the full-service treatment for your man this Christmas. This is definitely NOT his typical trip to Sports Cuts or even to a salon. He will surely appreciate the pampering and a change of pace. Here’s an example of what he will get to indulge in with a full-service treatment:
-Shampoo and scalp massage
-Conditioning treatment
-Hot facial towel
-Haircut
-Mini manicure
-Shampoo and rinse
-Shoe shine
-Beverage
Emerson Joseph now has three locations. You can send him to their first location in Uptown on Tryon, Southpark and now a new location in Ballantyne. It would be a nice end to the day if he works Uptown or a great way to add a bit of relaxation to the weekend. Go to the website for a full list of services and a price list: www.emersonjoseph.com.
Share some of your hubby gift ideas!

Can someone explain the “lounge” part? Is there a place after they have their service where they can hang out and have a drink and relax and watch a game etc? Their website doesn’t really talk about the “lounge” portion.
great idea. thanks!
The original Emerson Joseph has a great lounge area including flat screen tv’s and a pool table. Its a bit more common to have a drink and play pool before the appointment but no reason you can’t stick around.I’d recommend showing up early to grab a beer and a bit of sports center before a haircut.
My husband is in agreement with the above comment. He said the original location seemed to have more of a “lounge” area. He said guys were just hanging out, watching the game on flatscreens and having a drink. Definitely some of his favorite activities. He always comes out of there having enjoyed his “down time.” He has not been to the Ballantyne location so I called and they said they have a TV and dartboard setup. The southpark location has a TV area and an old pinball machine. The uptown location seems to have a bit more. They have the “speak easy” area and the pool tables, etc. I hope that helps!
Do they offer waxing? I love my hubby to death but have not been able to convince him to remove the shag carpet from his back. Trust me, I have tried everything. 🙂 Possibly if he goes with a friend, has some beers and a football game to watch he can be convinced. Probably TMI but I am out of ideas and need some help.
Sounds like your husband could use laser hair removal. I have used Sona for my bikini and lower legs. Give them a call!
They DO offer waxing. He may need some beers for that!
My husband used the last of his Emerson Joseph gidt certificate last night on a massage. He’s a very traditional guy and once told me he’d not be caught dead in a spa, and now he’s addicted to EJ. He told me it’s one of the best gifts he’s ever gotten. He goes to Ballantyne and says the lounge area is adequate — he’s never been downtown so can’t compare the two.
You should also check out Outland Gift and Cigar stores. They have a location in Ballantyne and they are opening soon in Southpark.
My husband is also a VERY traditional and conservative guy and was more than a little hesitant to go to get a massage. He did some research online and found Emmerson Joseph. He's also a pastor, so was especially concerned that he not accidently wind up in an unsuitable situation. He LOVES the EJ massages!! I wish I could afford to get him an anuual pass, but a special gift once in a while will have to suffice. He experiences a renewal of body and spirit each time he indulges in a massage and has even scheduled them on a lunch hour when his back hurt so badly he didn't think he would make it through the day. After his massage he was able to return to work and complete the day and WEEK. We highly recommend Emmerson Joseph!!
