It’s Christmas Eve, I LOVE Christmas Eve. (Photo here is my 2-year-old decorating cookies). We have a smaller amount of family in town this year. Just my aunt, uncle and cousin. My parents and in-laws live here as do my husband’s brother, his wife and their new baby. My two brothers both live in Texas and could not make it home this year, it’s the first year that neither have come. We will have Christmas Eve dinner at my house tonight with 11 adults and 2 kids. My tables all are set, they look good. The food will be cooked my my mom, my aunt and me (really, it’s mostly them, I am just good at setting the table). Our tradition is to open all extended family gifts Christmas Eve, then open Santa presents Christmas morning and late morning we do gifts with my parents and siblings, husband, etc.
As if that was not enough for one day, I am having lunch with two dear friends today. Old roommates, one lives in Greensboro and one at Mountain Island Lake. We see each other every so often but I am not sure when we have all 3 been together, I swear it’s been more than 2 years! These are girls that I lived with, worked with, and “partied” with in my 20s (Have a Nice Day Cafe? Wow that was a lomg time ago). Both were in my wedding. Anyway, what better day to get together than Christmas Eve? I can’t wait.
So here’s our schedule for tonight (and I hope you are not laughing at me for having a schedule).
5:30: All arrive, cocktails, stories and catching up
6:15: My 2-year-old starts opening her presents from family (gotta do this before she crashes)
