What’s going on around the QC this weekend? It’s the final weekend to enjoy…

Smarties, this is an AWESOME spinning tool that can make twisted accessories. The LoopDeDoo is the REAL DEAL, nothing low end here and it comes with 18 different skeins of embroidery thread. Honestly, my girls have been given bracelet making gifts in the past, but none of those compare to the LoopDeDoo, not even close. All you need to do is wrap your threads, turn the knob, guide the thread and viola, you have your unique accessory because there are no patterns to follow! The LoopDeDoo does come with an instruction book that is super easy to follow, especially for someone like me that cannot follow a written direction if it has more than five steps. This instruction book has color pictures for each of the 6 looping styles. Easy Peasy! I am sure that this will provide many hours to unhook from the TV, itouch, PC, etc. and I love when I can find something to spark creativity that does not involve an electronic screen.

The Smarty Holiday Gift Guide: Tweens & Teens
by Jen Plym November 30, 2012The 2012 Smarty Holiday Gift Guide is sponsored by Toys & Co in Cotswold and Park Road Shopping Center. Find everything on Santa’s list at Toys & Co! And, they will wrap every gift BEAUTIFULLY and oh-so-expertly. They are the toy experts so they will help you source a gift if you are not sure what to get.
Continuing with our 2012 Smarty Holiday Gift Guide Series, I bring you the ultimate guide for the hardest age group to buy for, tweens & teens.
The number one gift requested by most tweens and teens for years running is definitely C-A-S-H! This is especially true for boys. Yes, it seems a bit boring to give, but trust me, they’ll love you for it! But, if you feel like you need to step up your cool-factor with this age group, we compiled a list of ideas below to suit many different price ranges. Also, if you have a child who may be falling right in between age levels this year (kinda like a tween-tween!), be sure to check our gift ideas for ages 10-12. These ideas roll for your own kids, nieces/nephews and even your babysitters.

The Smarty Holiday Gift Guide: Ages 10-12
by Guest Blogger November 29, 2012The 2012 Smarty Holiday Gift Guide is sponsored by Toys & Co in Cotswold and Park Road Shopping Center. Find everything on Santa’s list at Toys & Co! I have a 12 year old son and I feel pretty clued into what boys want but clueless when it comes to the 10-12 year old girl. Lucky for me, I have a girl who lives next door who fits the bill and she has friends!! Thet very graciously agreed to help me out and wrote “All I Want for Christmas”. Thank you to Whitney and Lawson. To see more recommendations, keep reading!
All I Want For Christmas…
What do ten-twelve year old girls want for Christmas?
We want electronics like the Nintendo 3DS XL, Windows 8 laptop, flat-screen TV’s, iPhones and iPods (of course, the new ones!), Kindle Fires and Nook Colors—(Sorry, let me catch my breath!), the mini iPad, the awesome Nikon Coolpix camera, and the newest Wii U.
But as we all want those gadgets, we also like crafts such as craft looms (to make headbands and potholders), duct tape, pottery stuff, and cool designer portfolio kits.

Smarty Holiday Gift Guide: Ages 2-4 Years Old
by Guest Blogger December 1, 2011Today’s Smarty Loot List is for the preschool set, ages 2, 3 or 4 years old. This age group is so much fun to buy for so bring on the imaginative play, games of all kind and any toy that gets them moving!
PLAY KITCHENS & TOOL BENCHES
Team Bowman has gotten miles and miles of use out of the play kitchen my daughter received for her 2nd Christmas. It’s been in the rotation for 3 years and both of my children still play with it. It’s time to add a grill set or tool work bench to our kitchen. You can also have family members buy food (Melissa and Doug makes some great wooden food sets), dishes or a monogrammed kids apron. There are so many types to choose from so set your budget and get to researching!
