We’re excited to offer this fun Free-Motion Stitching workshop offered offered by Modern Craft Collective (a new small hands big art venture for Adults & Teens)!
The facilitator for this class is the talented Heather Valentine Heather, the owner/designer behind the uber popular blog, The Sewing Loft (www.thesewingloft.com).
Heather is a pattern designer, apparel industry expert, author, & video sewing educator!
Her popular classes & workshops are interactive, informative, casual, friendly and REALLY FUN!
In this hands-on class, you will learn the basics of free-motion stitching and create a unique journal cover using an eclectic mix of fabric, paper & ribbon!
Free-motion stitching is a technique where you have the freedom to create the stitches where ever you choose! In technical terms, the feed dog of your machine is lowered, disengaged, or covered, giving YOU control of where the needle stitches! Working from either a design you have sketched, or one of ours (we love to share inspiration!), you will learn how to stitch in any direction – in the same manner you would use a pencil to draw on paper!
Participants will learn how to create stylized lines and draw with thread on a standard sewing machine. This is not a quilting class. Class highlights these special accessories: Open Toe free-motion foot, double side fusible, quilting gloves and wash away stabilizer.
Materials/equipment required: Bring your sewing machine & all that makes it run: scrap testing fabric, thread and a new needle with a few extras just in case.
Skill level: Basic sewing skills and machine set up.
