The Charlotte Rescue Mission has been changing lives for over 70 years. Founded in 1938, the organization provides an intensive drug and alcohol recovery program to homeless or soon-to-be homeless men and women. Their goal is to rehabilitate these individuals by addressing the spiritual, mental, physical, emotional, social, and vocational issues of addiction and return them as contributing members of society.
“Dove’s Nest” is one of the ways the Charlotte Rescue Mission puts its promise into action. Dove’s Nest is the Charlotte Rescue Mission’s recovery program focused on women. Women come here to participate in an intense 120-day program focusing on spiritual, physical, social and psychological recovery. After the 120-day program, some clients continue for an additional eight months in the continuing care program.
Dove’s Nest is a place for these wounded women to rest, mend, heal and gain a new direction in their lives. Dove’s Nest is working to expand the facility from 22 beds to 90 beds, as the wait list to get in is about 6 months. While the national success rate for similar programs is only 18%, the success rate at the Dove’s Nest is over 60% AND 75% of the women who complete this program remain sober compared to the national average of only 25%. This program is truly remarkable and it is WORKING!
