We’ve have seen a lot of change over these past 10 years. Starting a new business at the end of 2009 was a little bit risky, maybe even a bit idiotic. The most difficult part for me was selling my wife on the idea of a business catered to eliminating mosquitoes. Over these past 10 years, we’ve been able to turn a seasonal side business into a year-round pest control operation. We have gone from just the 2 of us to team of 30 and growing. We were an overnight success, it just took us 10 years to make it happen. 
Customer Experience
Our goal from the start was to be the Chick-fil-a of the pest industry. Our primary focus is not only on customer service, but also customer experience. The first person that we hired back in 2010, Carl Giles, is still with us today. Carl was hired as a part-time specialist and is now our Director of Customer Experience. Carl understands that many of our customers spend a lot of time, energy and money on their yards that they want to enjoy. Understanding that, adopting that mentality and teaching that to our specialists is key for our team. We spend countless hours training our team to look at the yard they are treating through the customer’s eyes.
We aim to keep the bees buzzing
We also spend countless hours teaching our team about the importance of beneficial insects and how to properly treat a yard with that in mind. Here is a link with more info on mosquito control regarding bee safety.

More reason to celebrate
After a few years of careful consideration, we have opened our operations to include full pest control as well. We’ve had many requests over the years from our existing customers, so for the first time we will be opening our doors to the public also as Pest Authority. This decision came from the requests of our customers year after year. A few years back, we hired Patrick Helms to head up our pest division. We didn’t want to jeopardize our, so after years of training, planning and preparing… we are ready. 2019 kicks off Pest Authority.
Our favorite part
Looking back, I must say that my favorite part of growing a small business has been the multiple ways that we have been able to give back. Locally, we support multiple swim clubs, coach soccer & baseball teams, are involved and support Big Brother/Big Sisters, Congregations for Kids, the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, Beds for Kids, Adopt a Street, Pat’s Place, Carolina Breast Friends, The Gift of Adoption and the Humane Society just to name a few. Internationally we are involved and support New Life Children’s Home in Honduras and My Vision 4 Refugees in West Africa. We’ve taken team trips to New Life Children’s Home in Honduras where our team sponsors multiple children and this past winter we were also able to raise funds towards purchasing a van for My Vision 4 Refugees in West Africa. Lastly, we have been able to provide affordable housing to people in the community that may not qualify to meet certain requirements. All of these things have been made possible through the support of Mosquito Authority and our incredible customers.
